Commercial Office Monitoring

Live monitoring for office buildings, business parks, serviced floors and shared commercial premises, focused on the hours when the building is empty.

Offices are not usually robbed. They are entered. Someone follows a staff member through a controlled door, a cleaning contractor props a fire exit, a laptop store room is opened at an hour nobody can explain later. The camera system records all of it and the incident surfaces days afterwards, when the trail has gone cold.

Out-of-hours office monitoring puts a person on those feeds during evenings, nights, weekends and shutdown periods. Operators verify who is in the building against what should be happening, watch entry points and equipment areas, and escalate to the facilities contact or building management using instructions agreed in advance.

Common security risks

  • Theft of laptops, monitors, and IT equipment from open-plan floors and store rooms
  • Tailgating through controlled doors and lobbies behind authorised staff
  • Unauthorised entry during evenings, weekends, and holiday shutdowns
  • Doors and fire exits propped open by contractors or cleaning teams
  • Access to server rooms, comms cabinets, and records storage outside normal hours
  • Theft from underground and gated car parks attached to the building
  • Vandalism, graffiti, and rough sleeping in entrances and loading bays
  • Repeat reconnaissance of entrances and delivery points before an attempt

Operational challenges

  • Buildings shared by several tenants with different working hours and no single owner of security
  • Access-control logs that show a badge was used, but not who used it
  • Cleaning and maintenance contractors working when no staff are present
  • Reception cover that ends hours before the building actually empties
  • Facilities managers responsible for several buildings at once
  • Incidents discovered on Monday morning that happened on Friday night
  • No consistent record of who entered which floor and when

Questions

Commercial Office Monitoring: common questions

We lease two floors in a multi-tenant building. Can you monitor just our space?

Yes, provided the cameras covering your tenancy can be accessed separately. Where the system is landlord-controlled, we need written authorisation from building management before access is issued. That is a requirement, not a formality.

Can you tell us whether the cleaners actually turned up?

Yes. Arrival and departure verification against a contracted schedule is one of the most common office requests. You get the observed times, not an estimate, with camera references so you can check the footage yourself.

Do you monitor during working hours too?

We can, and some clients monitor reception and goods-in during trading hours. Most offices start with out-of-hours only, because that is where the coverage gap actually is.

Can this replace our night guard?

No, and we will not tell you otherwise. We watch and escalate; we do not attend, hold keys, patrol, or physically intervene. Some clients use monitoring alongside a reduced guarding schedule, but that is a decision for you and your insurer.
