Customer Service Observation
The customers who leave without buying rarely complain. Camera observation is one of the few ways to see them at all.
Sales reports show what was bought. They do not show the person who waited four minutes at an empty counter and walked out, or the queue that formed every day at the same time because the rota was built around the wrong hour.
This service focuses narrowly on the customer’s experience of being served: how long it took, whether anyone acknowledged them, and what happened when the store got busy.
Test this service on your own cameras
Three nights of live human monitoring, a written CCTV risk review, and reports covering what was observed. No new equipment required.
What is observed
- Time between a customer entering and being acknowledged
- Time waiting at a counter, till, or service desk
- Queue formation, length, and how long queues persist
- Whether additional tills or staff were opened at peak
- Customers who leave without being served
- Handling of customers waiting for click-and-collect or pickup orders
- Behaviour at self-service points where these exist
- Front-of-house coverage during breaks and shift changes
What this typically reveals
- The specific hours where staffing does not match footfall
- Days of the week where service consistently degrades
- Whether peak-time procedures are actually followed
- The gap between reported and observed customer waiting times
- Differences in service standards between branches
Service Conditions
What was said between staff and customers is not observed unless audio has been separately agreed, disclosed, and permitted by law. Observations describe visible behaviour and timings only.
Customers are observed as part of normal operational activity. We do not build profiles of individual customers, use facial recognition, or track individuals between visits.
Full conditions applying to every Netex Security service are set out on the Service Limitations page.

Questions about customer service observation
Do you measure exact wait times?
We report observed timings taken from camera timestamps. They are accurate enough to manage a rota against, and we present them as observations rather than as instrumented data.
Can this replace a customer feedback programme?
No. It tells you what happened; feedback tells you how it felt. They answer different questions and most clients use both.
Can you count footfall?
We can report observed customer traffic patterns where the entrance is well covered. For precise counting, a dedicated counter integrated with your systems is more appropriate.
